Detailed Description
West Virginia artist Michael Nathan has been involved in artistic pursuits for nearly 30 years. Although Michael's work includes many different mediums, sculpture has been his primary focus.
This piece is hand-crafted from a 16-gauge steel barrel lid with an Oxy-acetylene torch and coated with a special copper raku finish which he developed. This process produces random colors of blue, green, red and yellow. Coloring is dependent upon many variables and, therefore, each is is different and unique. While the edges are softened somewhat by grinding, for the most part they are left rough and do not resemble the laser-cut pieces so often found in today's market.
Each peice is signed by the artist and as you can see shows how an artist can take something as droll as a barrel lid and create something strikingly beautiful for your pleasure.
Measures 23-1/2" in diameter
