The "Maid In The Mud" Garden Sprite is a life-size cast sandstone replica of one of the many such sculptures designed by Wright and sculpted by Alfonzo Ianelli that adorned the walls of Midway Gardens in Chicago, Illinois.
The Nakoma and Nakomis sculptures were originally designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1923 to be located at the entry pools to the Community of Nakoma Country Club in Madison, Wisconsin. While separate, these sculptures were designed as one work to complement each other while highlighting the contrasts between woman and warrior. Recently completed by the Tallesin Architects, they now stand together at the gateway to the Nakoma clubhouse at the Gold Mountain Resort in California. Made from dry cast sandstone.
